American Express Membership Rewards

Rapid Rewards Preferred Partners - American Express


Effective July 1, 2010 American Express Membership Rewards® points will no longer be eligible for transfer into Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® credits. Please make any transfers prior to June 30, 2010.

  • Southwest Airlines participates in the Membership Rewards® Program from American Express. Points earned for purchases made with the American Express Card can be used towards various rewards including Award travel on Southwest Airlines.
  • Participants can transfer points from their Membership Rewards account into their Rapid Rewards account to receive credits towards Awards.
  • You cannot book Award Travel until Membership Rewards points are transferred and an Award is posted to your account. Credits should post immediately but please allow up to 48 hours for credits to post to your Rapid Rewards account.
  • 1,500 Membership Reward points may be transferred for one Rapid Rewards credit (24,000 Membership Reward points = 1 Award).
  • If you’re not already a Rapid Rewards Member, enroll now.
  • Membership Rewards points are not reversible once transferred.

  • All Rapid Rewards Rules and Regulations apply.
* Cardmembers transferring points to domestic airlines will be charged a fee of $.0005 per point, up to $75.
